I learned to play guitar on my dad's old Harmony H1215 f-hole. Learned enough chords to play along with my cousin on some Beatles songs before getting my own guitar at age 13. My dad passed away in 2001 and a few years later I went back home and looked for the guitar but my mom didn't know what had happened to it. I wasn't very impressed with it back in the day because I wanted a round-hole Yamaha like my neighbor had. Would love to have that old Harmony now.
The old Harmony's are cool. Most of them are solid wood, which I never knew until recently. Unfortunately that's why so few of them survived in playable condition. They dried out, cracked and or fell apart.
Just saw this--it's close. My dad's guitar had triple pinstripes around the body. This is the best picture of it I could find:
That's the neighbor's FG300 that I was so impressed with at the time. Was able to get together with him to play a few years ago and he still has that guitar.
