This is all the data from the Yamaha Acoustic Guitar Archive web page that I got from Yamaha in November 2014. I've probably spent hundreds of hours reconfiguring, refining, correcting and adding a few models I've found. I emailed Yamaha customer support and asked if I could distribute the modified data and on 5/16/17 they said feel free to share it.

The first tab is all the FG models in numerical order, then tabs sorted by various categories, then a few tabs of just the vintage US models sorted different ways, then all the other Yamaha acoustic guitar models. The last tab is a date chart I did years ago, not very useful but interesting.

You'll notice some cells are yellow, some text is bold, and some text is red. The yellow cells are what I consider to be the true vintage models, 1966-1981, models that had the truss rod adjustment in the headstock. Text that is bold black are models with no US distribution (not imported). Text in red are models not included in the original Yamaha Guitar Archive, either missing or the new 800 series.

The current version (v6.4.3), dated 9/17/17, is available here --> XLSX v6.4.3

For anyone who has an older version of Excel (97-2003) or a program not compatible with Excels XLSX format, the current version (v6.4.3) is available here --> XLS v6.4.3

PDF's now available!!

v6.4.4 - ALL

v6.6.4 - US Only

v6.4.4 - Vintage, US Only

v6.4.4 - Vintage, US Only, By Type

v6.4.4 - Vintage, US Only, By Year

Big shout out for putting this together. I appreciate your hundreds of hours. I had used the Yamaha GuitarArchive on and off for many years, being a fan of old Yamaha classical guitars, couldn't believe it when I couldn't find it anymore! And then I found my way here. So, again, a big thank-you, great work, I appreciate your efforts.

I managed to download and open ( with Linux OpenOffice) your spreadsheet. Many thanks.

Hey, CTGull,

I too have had a bug to find and fix up guitars, and the Yamaha Guitar Archive was a wonderful source of information. I was really bummed when I saw they had taken it down!

Thanks so much for posting the spreadsheet... I now have secured my own copy.

I've been collecting 6 & 7 digit serial numbers and internal date codes to figure out when theguitars were made.

Based on what I have so far, your serial number should be early 1970.  The best way to tell is to get a flashlight and your cell phone camera inside the guitar and look around on the side below the pick guard.  The will be a 6 digit number, similar to 45.??.??.  If you could post that it would help fill in the huge gaps in my data.

That changes everything!  The model number didn't click, I just saw the 7 digit serial number assuming it was a Red label Nippon Gakki.

10/22/1977.

That was made late 1967.

If you got take a look inside and find the date code I'd really appreciate it.  I need those as reference points to tell when guitars are made.  I loosen the 3 bass strings, lower in a flashlight, and use my cell phone camera to look around and take a few pictures.
