DAY 19 – Tuned to E. The action is 5/64” low E & a little over 3/64” high E. It plays clean. I'm reluctant to lower the action further.
REF – The dovetail insert mounting screws are 1-3/16” & 2-5/16” away from the end of the heel.
Drilled the heel strap button hole 2” from the end of the heel, and the endpin hole approx. central to the plug, using a center drill and a 7/64” drill with tape at 5/8”.
DONE!!!
Marked the location of the dovetail insert screws and the strap button hole.
The parts.
The parts assembled.
Marked the end pin hole.
Drilled, slightly off center.
Once the strap button is installed you can't see the plug.
Drilled the heel strap button hole.
An old 60/s or 70's strap.
The strap wraps around the heel and barely touches the old strap button, which was installed on the wrong side (unless you're playing lefty!).
I delivered the guitar after work yesterday. He drove 5 hours down from Maine, and I left work a few minutes early and met him part way, saving him 1.5 hours of driving. Like when he dropped it off, we talked for over an hour. He was VERY happy with it!! I was sad to see it go!! It sounds better than any of my 12 strings!!

Hey Dave: I’ve been playing my repaired guitar every day and my fingers are not too sore because the action is really good. No more hand cramps or buzzing. Outstanding work!
