Hello all,
Since this is my first post I'll say that I've been a Yamaha guy for a long time. I have owned a lot of Yamaha guitars over the years, mostly older ones. I still own an L-20A, FG-180, FG-200, a Dynamic 120(?) that I converted to a mandocello (it was already in rough shape), an FG-45, some others that I forget the details on at the moment.
A couple of weeks ago I picked up an FG-2500 (#418). I had a bit of guitar fever when I went to look at it (in a gas station parking lot, in the cold, after driving for a while to get there). I paid a reasonable price for it given the issues it has -- somewhere close to fair for both me and the seller. The guitar has some issues for sure but the problem I'm really concerned about is that one of the roller gears is missing (as is the screw). I've started looking for ways to resolve this and so far I'm not coming up with much. This roller gear is pretty unique as far as I can tell. It is a 14:1 and is splined on both the outside and inside. I figured maybe someone around here might have some ideas about getting this worked out. Any ideas?
