just picked this up herre north of the border, sounds great, some belt buckle denting on the back, but looks really good otherwise, just some questions on the label and date of mfg. PO said it is a 75, I think a 77...also the Made in taiwan without the Republic of China is something I cannot see anywhere else. Is this a really good imitation, or what? Thanks for any help.

I replied to your email. YES! It is real! I haven't posted about this rare variation of the Black label because I only noticed a few months and and have only found 6 so far.
Can you verify the serial number? They're a little hard to read in the picture.
Hey, wow. # on support under top, 51218165, at base of neck is 0799832. Thanks for any aditional info, ie year of mfg, why the change in label? I think Taiwan was under Chinese protectorate in 76?? Anyhow that is super cool. I just love the sound, but mught have to use a pick, as the sound is so much better than my finger picking ( trying to emulate Colter Wall !) ttyl
It was made 12/18/1975. Yamaha changed the label VERy often. Who knows why??!! I do think it has to do with how Taiwan was controlled by China back then. But the serial numbers I've found with this rare label span 14 months, while the normal label was stilled used for a huge percentage of production. Did they have another plant with different rules?
