Excellent! I never put anything but 11-52 strings on it, but look forward to trying the 12's, which is what I use on my other acoustics.
The reduced tension of a lighter set isn't going to help the high action much, maybe 1/64". It took 50+ years to get to that point. Why hurt the tone with lighter strings?! String it up with your regular strings and just play it.
It's finished and gone!! And it sounds fantastic!!
I don't normally show the packing.
I slacked the strings and wrapped a half sheet of paper around the neck, taped in the middle. This keeps the strings from slapping against the newly polished frets. And slacking the strings keeps the tension off the neck during transit.
He previously paid for a new truss rod nut (obviously installed) and a truss rod wrench. Also, I replaced the different sized bridge pins with same sized ebony pins, and I am returning the old pins.
A nice saddle height and string break angle.
The new nut.
There was a lot of damage to the black binding from the extended steaming during the difficult nek removal. I was able to flatten it and make it look pretty good. I also reinstalled the strap button and added a felt washer.
The truss rod wrench, old pins, and other stuff that were in the case pocket.
Packed with lots of bubble wrap to keep the guitar from shifting and rubbing in the case.
And packed it fairly tight in the box.
Ready to go to FEDEX Office!!
We got there at 5:40pm. We missed the truck!! The last pickup used to be 6pm, but now it's 5pm.
Now that I've played it for a few days, I find that I can't put it down! Seriously, I should have gotten the neck reset years ago, the action is close to my electrics. Very loud, sweet sounding small body guitar thanks to your repair work.
