Hello to all,
New to this site but not Yamaha acoustics.
I have a Nippon Gakki Red Label FG500 that I bought in Winnipeg in 1970 or '71.
Serial # 20128184....
I was a budding Bob Dylan ....and chose the Yammie over a Martin D18 as it sounded better....plain and simple. I didn't know a lot about guitars in those days aside what looked, felt, and sounded good.
I don't have any good pics at present but could post later if interest is there.
I have Googled to death possible manufacture date and have so far not nailed it down....but a site indicated that 8-digit Red Labels were made for Japan only and not for export :

The guitar is stock except for recent Tusk bridge....and has some dings here and there from lots of use...but is in "good" condition.
Last year I returned to much more frequent playing and started an electric guitar habit....and also bought an Yamaha LL16D which I am learning to love.
I am considering selling the FG500 for the right offer.
Any other FG500 folks out there?
